The Fifth Annual Winter Games of Texas is a sports festival created for Texas amateur athletes taking place in Frisco on January 15-17, 2010.  Patterned after the Olympic Games and the U.S. Olympic Sports Festivals, the Winter Games of Texas provide a forum for training and competition among Texas’ hopefuls and recreational athletes.  These Olympic-style competition provide athletes of all ages and skill levels with a wholesome avenue through sports and physical activity.

Sports Ball Drive & NBA D-League Frisco Help Make Celebration of Athletes Memorable
One way to ensure that state athletes have a ‘ball’ playing sports is to attend the 5th Anniversary Winter Games of Texas Celebration of Athletes Saturday, January 16 at the Frisco Athletic Center from 6:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. and donate a new basketball, soccer ball, volleyball, baseball, softball, tennis or golf ball. Any kind of new sports ball will do! Proceeds from the sports ball drive will benefit the local Boys & Girls Club of Frisco and an additional charity to be named by the Texas Recreation & Parks Society.

In addition to the Sports Ball Drive, the NBA D-League Frisco will be on hand signing autographs and looking for recruits who can shoot. Players from Frisco high school teams will have a chance to compete in game of HORSE against D-League coaches and players.

Join us in welcoming our star athletes to the Winter Games of Texas in Frisco. Enjoy tons of family fun with games, live entertainment, past Olympic heroes and an indoor aquatic center featuring a giant water slide. All activities will take place at the Frisco Athletic Center (972-292-5000) located at 5828 Nancy Jane Lane in Frisco on Saturday, January 16 from 6:30 pm – 9:30 pm. Admission to the Celebration of Athletes is free to the Winter Games athletes, their families and to the general public.
