2006 Misc News Items - 12/2/2005
Upcoming events for 2006
 
The 2006 TAAF Insurance Program has been approved and will be put into place as of January 1, 2006.  The prices for this program have been secured at the same rates as the 2004 and 2005 rates.  Attached is the insurance enrollment information.
 
The 2006 TAAF Officials Basketball Certification Test is now available for all members wanting to certify their officials.  Please contact the TAAF State Office for information on the certification process.
 
Looking Ahead - Pepsi Pitch, Hit & Run local competitions should be turned into the state office so scheduling for sectionals can be scheduled. Locals are hosted April 1 - May 15.  This is a free program that TAAF has been working with for the past several years.  Contact the office if you need a commitment form.
 
TAAF Sports Management School - May 10-11, 2006 will be held in Round Rock ath the Wingate Inn, 1209 IH 35 (512 341-7000). Room rate $72.00. School registration fee prior to April 14 is $35.00; after April 14 is $50.00. Once again, three tracts will be offered with certifications available upon appropriate completion. For more information on sessions, contact the TAAF State Office.

Texas Amateur Athletic Federation - 2006 Insurance Program

                Effective January 1, 2006 – January 1, 2007

The following information references coverage contained in the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation (T.A.A.F.)

 insurance policy (subject to all terms, conditions and exclusions), and it is the property of T.A.A.F. 

The contact person on the enrollment form will receive a certificate of insurance for proof of coverage,

 and a copy is available only by written request to T.A.A.F.

Notable exclusions, including, but not limited to; and in addition to all other policy terms, conditions and exclusions, include:

1)       T.A.A.F. events/activities ONLY, general liability/participant accident insurance QUOTATION ONLY

       (NOT worker compensation, property, automobile, director/officer liability nor other insurance/operation)

2)       Accident coverage eligibility includes participants

3)       Liability coverage includes participant legal liability and excludes abuse and molestation, assault & battery, asbestos, discrimination, nuclear energy, total pollution, total fireworks and pyrotechnics,

employment-related practices, collapse of temporary structures, war and terrorism; total pollution,

lead liabilities, stunt activities, use of trampolines, cheerleading pyramids; use of saunas or

tanning devices, polo, skin & scuba diving, squash, snow skiing, water skiing, whitewater rafting;

bungee jumping; mountain & rock climbing; motor-sports; rodeo or any equestrian related  sports,

waterslides, ballooning, parachute jumping, luge, tobogganing, gymnastics, punitive damages,

mechanical riding devices and all claims boxing athletic participants

4)       All coverage(s) subject to policy (ies) terms, conditions and exclusions

5)       Risk management requirements include protective equipment, supervision and/or officiating

 Fees listed are for insurance only.  Registration fees are NOT included. Coverage is for the calendar year of 2006. Officials will be covered while officiating for T.A.A.F. sanctioned events only.  All teams and individuals participating in a league or season must be registered with T.A.A.F. and be participating in T.A.A.F. scheduled, supervised, "sanctioned" activities ONLY. This is not 24 hour / 7 days a week coverage.  It is for T.A.A.F. activities only. For the 24 hour / 7days a week coverage, venue owners must have primary premises liability insurance. Certificates of insurance issued to teams or leagues only.

Waivers must accompany an insurance enrollment form for each individual participant to be insured. 

Teams requesting insurance must include the completed(signed) team roster (with waiver on back) to be insured.

Fees should be included with insurance enrollment.

Games of Texas Awarded - 10/1/2005
The Texas Amateur Athletic Federation is proud to announce that the TAAF Games of Texas have been awarded for 2008-09 and 2010-11. The 2008-09 TAAF Games of Texas will return to San Antonio the birth place of the TAAF Games of Texas. San Antonio hosted the very first GOT in 1986. The San Antonio Sports Foundation and the City of San Antonio will partner to host the 08-09 GOT. The 2010-11 TAAF Games of Texas will be held in the City of Waco. Waco will host their record 6th and 7th GOT. The Texas Amateur Athletic Federation is excited to return to these great cities, which will continue to produce the greatest multi-sport festival in Texas. 
   
Shoes For Austin Grant - 3/4/2005
T.A.A.F. has partnered with Shoes For Austin, a non-profit organization that awards grants to human services programs in the six county area surrounding Austin.
   
T.A.A.F WINTER GAMES TO BECOME A REALITY - 2/25/2005
T.A.A.F. Executive Director Mark Lord announced the creation of the T.A.A.F. Winter Games of Texas. The 2006 T.A.A.F. Winter Games of Texas will be held January 13-15, 2006 in Frisco, Texas.
   
Online Registration - 12/15/2004
The state office has started online registration as of January 1, 2005 for ALL individual sports registrations (including gymnastics and cheerleading).
