Thank you for offering your time to volunteer for the 2018 TAAF Winter Games of Texas! Your participation in these events makes an impact on the athletes and the community.
 
Application Instructions:
Already a Registered Pearland Parks Volunteer? – no need to apply, just email Pat Wiley to request a shift.  Not a Registered Parks Volunteer? Please apply online here to volunteer only for Pickleball, Swimming and Wheelchair Rugby. The deadline to apply is December 15, 2017.         
  • Pickleball | January 12-14 @ Pearland Recreation Center and Natatorium gym. Shifts TBD.
  • Swimming | January 13 and possibly Jan 14 @ Pearland Recreation Center and Natatorium. 
    • Shifts for swimming to include:
      • 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
      • 12:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Wheelchair Rugby | Jan 12-14 @ Pearland Junior High West.
    • Shifts for wheelchair rugby include:
      •  8 am to 12 p.m.
      •  11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
      •  2 to 6 p.m.
Note: In addition to the application, adult volunteers (age 18 and older) are required to fill out a background check form (click here), and minors (age 17 and younger) must have a parent hand sign this form (click here). Email consent forms to Pat Wiley, pwiley@pearlandtx.gov or fax to 281.412.8911 or drop it off at the Recreation Center and Natatorium within 8 days of submitting the application.  We are currently working on more shift details. Volunteers under the age of 15 must provide an adult co-volunteer, who will also complete the application process.

Volunteers (5 per shift) needed as runners, sound assistants and judge helpers.

Volunteers will help with concessions, parking, clean up, and field maintenance. 

 


Registration Tips
  • Not all sports will require volunteers, only sports listed above require additional help.
  • You are welcome to sign up for more than one sport and more than one shift, however, you are responsible for making sure your chosen shifts do not conflict.
  • Sport competitions will be located in various locations throughout Pearland. Be aware of the distance to travel from one sport to another.


FAQs
What do I wear?
  • Wear comfortable closed-toe shoes and either khaki or solid colored dark pants (no prints). All clothes must be free of stains or tears.
  • A volunteer Winter Games of Texas t-shirt will be provided for you.
  • Depending on your sport’s venue and the weather, please dress accordingly- the natatorium is warm, Shadow Creek Ranch Sports Complex may be cold
Do I need to bring food/drinks?
  • Hospitality, snacks and water will be provided during your shift.
 
What do I need to know about my shift?
  • Leave valuables at home or well-hidden in your vehicle.
  • Arrive early enough to park, check-in and change into your t-shirt before your shift begins.
  • You will be given a quick training and orientation for restroom and hospitality locations.
  • Check out at the end of your shift. Community Service forms should be available at that time.
  • If you are unable to fulfill your commitment to your shift, please let your contact know 72 hours in advance to fill your spot.
